Building a new home is an exciting journey, and at Campbell Homes, we know how important it is to stay involved throughout the process. A structured timeline and clear communication are key to ensuring your home turns out exactly as you envisioned. Below, we’ll guide you through what to expect during your home’s construction, the critical meetings that bring your vision to life, and how Campbell Homes partners with you every step of the way.
Key Construction Milestones
Once your contract is signed, the construction process officially begins. Here’s the approximate timeline for your new home build:
- Contract Signing
- Home Electronics & Design Center Selections: Within 21 days
- Permit Obtained: About 4 weeks following contract signing
- Pre-Construction Meeting: 3 weeks after permit
- Frame Walk Meeting: 6 weeks after Pre-Con meeting
- New Home Orientation (NHO): 2 weeks before closing
- Final Walk-Through: Day before or morning of closing
- Closing: Approximately 25 weeks from contract signing’
Closing Date
We believe our home buyers should have a closing date as early as possible. That is why, at the time of signing the contract, we establish a permit date and closing date based on our Slot Schedule. This schedule is something we have used for over 40 years, and it works very well. Our goal for every new build is to close within 3 months from framing. We do everything within our power to meet the closing date you are given at contract signing.
Homeowner Visits
We understand how exciting it is to watch your new home take shape. Homeowners are welcome to visit their homes every Sunday from 12 PM – 5 PM, where our sales team is available to answer questions. However, visits Monday through Saturday can pose safety concerns and delay production, so we kindly ask for your cooperation in sticking to Sunday visits.
Essential Meetings During Construction
At Campbell Homes, we believe building a home is a partnership between you, our team, and our trusted trade partners. To ensure a smooth construction process, there are three essential meetings after you sign your contract:
1. Pre-Construction Meeting (3 weeks after permit)
This meeting is the foundation of your home-building journey. It’s your opportunity to meet your Campbell Homes Superintendent who will oversee construction. If you’re working with a Realtor, they’re welcome to join as well.
During this meeting, we’ll:
- Review your contract line-by-line, including any upgrades, custom changes, and selections from the design center and home electronics.
- Compare the contract to construction documents to ensure every detail is aligned with your expectations.
- Address any questions you have about the process or your design choices.
Come prepared with your questions—it’s the perfect time to clarify every detail before construction starts!
2. Frame Walk Meeting (6 weeks after the Pre-Con Meeting)
This meeting is one of the most exciting milestones. For the first time, you’ll walk through your home’s framed structure and get a real sense of its layout and scale.
Here’s what to expect:
- Review all electrical and technology wiring before insulation and drywall go up.
- Take photos to document the placement of wires, plumbing, and other structural details for future reference.
This is a great opportunity to make sure everything is exactly where it should be.
3. New Home Orientation (NHO) (2 weeks before closing)
This is your first look at your nearly completed home and a chance to see all the personalized features and upgrades in place. It’s also when construction turns the house over to the Customer Care team who will now be your point of contact for final items to be done. Prior to this meeting, Customer Care has taken the time to visit the home and familiarize themselves with its features.
During this meeting:
- You will meet your Customer Care team who will walk you through your home and explain how to operate key systems, like your gas fireplace or other custom additions.
- You’ll carefully inspect your home, marking any areas needing touch-ups with blue painter’s tape.
- Our team will create a punch list of outstanding items to address before closing.
This meeting is essential for ensuring your home meets your expectations.
Final Walk-Through and Closing
Final Walk-Through
Your final walk-through takes place either the day before or the morning of your closing. During this meeting, you’ll revisit your home with our Customer Care team to confirm that all punch-list items from the New Home Orientation have been addressed.
If anything is still outstanding, don’t worry! Our team will continue working with you after move-in to resolve any final details.
Closing
Approximately 6 months from signing the contract you’ll officially close on your new house and receive the keys to your dream home!
