As the end of 2020 is nearing, minds turn to resolutions for 2021.

The Customer Care Department of Campbell Homes, Colorado Springs’ oldest locally owned home building company, would like to suggest a few resolutions that are sure to make your home much more efficient and more comfortable in 2021!

• Resolve to change your furnace filter on the first of each month.
• Resolve to change your smoke detector battery when you set your clocks ahead for daylight savings and back for standard time.
• Resolve to de-clutter one closet or room each month.
• Resolve to clean and seal the grout in bathrooms and kitchens.
• Resolve to test Ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets on a monthly basis.
• Resolve to clean the clothes dryer vent. Pull the dryer out from the wall, disconnect the vent pipe, and vacuum lint out of the pipe and the place where it connects to the machine. Also, wipe lint off your exterior dryer vent so the flap opens and closes easily. (You’ll need to go outside for that, but it’s quick.) Remember that vents clogged with old dryer lint are a leading cause of house fires.
• Resolve to check and replace cracked, frayed, and damaged electrical and extension cords.
• Resolve to check and replace deteriorated caulk and weatherstripping  around windows and doors.
• Resolve to check low areas in the the foundation of your home.  These areas should be  filled with compacted soil to protect your home’s foundation from water damage.
• Resolve to clean kitchen (including refrigerator) and bathroom cabinets and throw away outdated food, medicine and cosmetics
• Resolve not to put any of these items down your garbage disposal.

By sticking to these easy to keep resolutions, you’ll ensure your home’s safety, performance, and comfort.  Remember, a well-maintained home is one of the best investments you can make in maintaining your home’s financial value to take advantage of opportunities to move into the new Colorado Springs home of your dreams!
